Do you ever get the feeling that posting to Twitter is a waist of time because your post
disappears just as fast as it was posted? I know exactly how you feel! I have felt the
same feeling until I fell upon a secret that probably most Twitter members don’t know
about. This is not really a secret, it’s just not something people come a cross when they first start posting.

What is this secret?

It is called using keywords! WHAT?

I know it sounds crazy but here me out for a second while I explain.

One day I was doing some research on Twitter. Some of things I found I all ready
knew about except for the one thing that mattered, using “KEYWORDS”.

You have probably noticed a search box on the right side under all your followers
thumbnails. Well, it isn’t there to look pretty! It’s there for you to use as a tool to
find your targeted market using keywords. That’s right I said targeted market!

I know targeted market is a stuck in the mud because people want to know how to determine their targeted market but just don’t seem to get it so, they throw it to the side and forget about it. But if you take time and do a search you will find people who are talking about your  particular keyword for your targeted audience. When you add these keywords into your post it will appear under that search. Plus, you can save your keywords to keep track of what’s working for your market.

When you think your posts are not being viewed you are probably right if you’re not using keywords. But if you take the time and research the keywords for your targeted market you will get tons of traffic to your site.

Failing to use the right Search Engine Optimization (SEO) techniques will mean that very few visitors (Read Very Few Prospects) will ever find your site. You need to get found by using the simple tips for your .ws GDI site below.

SEO may be something that you decide to (spend cash on to) outsource. If you do this, make sure that you are knowledgeable enough about the site you are signing up with to ensure the success of your web page. There are plenty of internet marketing “experts” and SEO “gurus” around who will happily charge huge fees for sub-par work. As a minimum, track their results. Look at work they’ve done for previous clients, read customer testimonials with a grain of salt, and compare what they tell you against information you can find online. If they don’t know how to set up results tracking, you can bet they don’t know much about SEO or Marketing. You are much more likely to be satisfied with your results if you are up front with them on how you plan to verify their work.

Should you not have the funds to have someone else do the work, here’s what you can do to help get your site noticed by the search engines and improve your page ranking.

To increase your search engine ranking, include written transcripts of any audio and video content on your site. By providing transcripts for any audio or videos, your content can be understood by the automated robot search engines and included in their search engine listings.

Use the longer or plural form of keywords to generate more search engine hits. Keyword stemming is used by a variety of search engines. When you choose the singular of the keyword (e.g. accountant) results for the plural or variations (i.e. accountants, accounting) may not send seekers to your website. If you use the longer form of the word, then your site will be included in the searches that include the shorter form of the word as well.

It is critical that you remain aware of your standings in the search engines, when it comes to search engine optimization. If you don’t keep track of your standings then you will not know if your efforts in SEO are paying off. You can follow your page rank with the Google toolbar or Alexa.

Make sure you implement the use of social networking sites such as Twitter and Google Plus as a means to improve your SEO. YouTube makes it easy to include video of demonstrations or product features, while social sites such as Facebook and Twitter offer direct interaction with your customers.  I find Pintrest to be a big time waster for most businesses, but if you want to reach an artistic or crafty crowd, you may want to test it for a few days and use special links to track the results. As of this writing, I have found my tests for use with GDI to be a total waste of my time… just so you know what I personally found. Twitter has been my best free social site with Google Plus a close second. Facebook is great for communicating with friends and family and to get aricles indexed by the search engines, but like Pinterest, it’s not been much help in actually finding new leads.

You can improve your ranking on search results pages by offering an abundance of content that covers different ideas within a given niche. As an example, if you have a blog about knitting, include articles about pattern types, book reviews and how to’s. The more expansive your content is, the higher chances you have of gaining a solid following. Search engines also love BLOG’s that update new content regularly at least a couple times a week.

Talk with an education or non-profit website to see if they will provide a link on their site to content on your site. When you are linked by a reputable source, this is seen as higher quality content for the search engines. Add high-quality articles to your website that will make other organizations want to feature you on their site. Make your content worthy of attention from these organizations. Comments on reliable high ranking site BLOG posts with your link as part of your signature block (used sparingly) also work well to increase your page rank.

Spiders sent out by search engines are constantly on the lookout for fresh content. A blog is an excellent way to attract these spiders because you can update it constantly. Furthermore, truly good-quality content will often be passed around. After that, those who shared your articles will return to read more, as will many of their friends. Recently the search engines have begun to give a higher ranking to sites that are both tablet and mobile friendly. This means that your site needs to be able to be read by multiple size applications and systems.

You don’t want website failure. That’s the last thing a business wants. Although tons of online businesses fail, many actually do succeed by applying methods that have been proven successful for other web-based business owners. Don’t be afraid to spend some time looking at what other successful sites in your niche are doing and then do the same type of things on your site.

Last, but not least by any means:

Once you gain some verified experience and proven results, You should sell yourself to others as a specialist in your field. As an expert this is a great tool for Internet marketing that can make you serious money. Creating a website that is designed around a niche of buyers is absolutely critical. Then, use search engine optimization tools to help buyers find your services and products. Keep in mind that it’s critical to your company’s success to give customers the items they want, rather than what you might assume they want.

      HOW MANY OF THESE ARE HOLDING YOU BACK?

      Life’s greatest tragedy consists of men and women who earnestly try, and
      fail! The tragedy lies in the overwhelmingly large majority of people who
      fail, as compared to the few who succeed.

      I have had the privilege of analyzing several thousand men and women, 98% of whom were classed as "failures." There is something radically wrong       with a civilization, and a system of education, which permit 98% of the       people to go through life as failures. But I did not write this book for the purpose of moralizing on the rights and wrongs of the world; that would require a book a hundred times the size of this one.

      My analysis work proved that there are thirty major reasons for failure,       and thirteen major principles through which people accumulate fortunes. In       this chapter, a description of the thirty major causes of failure will be       given. As you go over the list, check yourself by it, point by point, for the purpose of discovering how many of these causes-of-failure stand between you and success.

      1. UNFAVORABLE HEREDITARY BACKGROUND. There is but little, if anything, which can be done for people who are born with a deficiency in brain  power. This philosophy offers but one method of bridging this weakness-       through the aid of the Master Mind. Observe with profit, however, that this is the ONLY one of the thirty causes of failure which may not be easily corrected by any individual.

      2. LACK OF A WELL-DEFINED PURPOSE IN LIFE. There is no hope of success for the person who does not have a central purpose, or definite goal at which to aim. Ninety-eight out of every hundred of those whom I have analyzed, had no such aim. Perhaps this was the

      3. LACK OF AMBITION TO AIM ABOVE MEDIOCRITY. We offer no hope for the person who is so indifferent as not to want to get ahead in life, and who    is not willing to pay the price.

      4. INSUFFICIENT EDUCATION. This is a handicap which may be overcome with comparative ease. Experience has proven that the best-educated people are often those who are known as "self-made," or self-educated. It takes more than a college degree to make one a person of education. Any person who is educated is one who has learned to get whatever he wants in life without    violating the rights of others. Education consists, not so much of knowledge, but of knowledge effectively and persistently APPLIED. Men are paid, not merely for what they know, but more particularly for WHAT THEY DO WITH THAT WHICH THEY KNOW.

      5. LACK OF SELF-DISCIPLINE. Discipline comes through self-control. This    means that one must control all negative qualities. Before you can control       conditions, you must first control yourself. Self-mastery is the hardest job you will ever tackle. If you do not conquer self, you will be conquered by self. You may see at one and the same time both your best friend and your greatest enemy, by stepping in front of a mirror.

      6. ILL HEALTH. No person may enjoy outstanding success without good health. Many of the causes of ill health are subject to mastery and control. These, in the main are:
      a. Overeating of foods not conducive to health
      b. Wrong habits of thought; giving expression to negatives.
      c. Wrong use of, and over indulgence in sex. d. Lack of proper physical
      exercise e. An inadequate supply of fresh air, due to improper breathing.

      7. UNFAVORABLE ENVIRONMENTAL INFLUENCES DURING CHILDHOOD. "As the twig is bent, so shall the tree grow." Most people who have criminal tendencies acquire them as the result of bad environment, and improper associates during childhood.

      8. PROCRASTINATION. This is one of the most common causes of failure. "Old Man Procrastination" stands within the shadow of every human being,       waiting his opportunity to spoil one’s chances of success. Most of us go       through life as failures, because we are waiting for the "time to be right" to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be "just right." Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.

      9. LACK OF PERSISTENCE. Most of us are good "starters" but poor       "finishers" of everything we begin. Moreover, people are prone to give up at the first signs of defeat. There is no substitute for PERSISTENCE. The person who makes PERSISTENCE his watch-word, discovers that "Old Man Failure" finally becomes tired, and makes his departure. Failure cannot cope with PERSISTENCE.

      10. NEGATIVE PERSONALITY. There is no hope of success for the person who repels people through a negative personality. Success comes through the application of POWER, and power is attained through the cooperative       efforts of other people. A negative personality will not induce cooperation.

      11. LACK OF CONTROLLED SEXUAL URGE. Sex energy is the most powerful of all the stimuli which move people into ACTION. Because it is the most powerful of the emotions, it must be controlled, through transmutation, and converted into other channels.

      12. UNCONTROLLED DESIRE FOR "SOMETHING FOR NOTHING." The gambling instinct drives millions of people to failure. Evidence of this may be found in a study of the Wall Street crash of ’29, during which millions of people tried to make money by gambling on stock margins.

      13. LACK OF A WELL DEFINED POWER OF DECISION. Men who succeed reach decisions promptly, and change them, if at all, very slowly. Men who fail, reach decisions, if at all, very slowly, and change them frequently, and quickly. Indecision and procrastination are twin brothers. Where one is found, the other may usually be found also. Kill off this pair before they completely "hog-tie" you to the treadmill of FAILURE.

      14. ONE OR MORE OF THE SIX BASIC FEARS. These fears have been analyzed for you in a later chapter. They must be mastered before you can market your services effectively.

      15. WRONG SELECTION OF A MATE IN MARRIAGE. This a most common cause of failure. The relationship of marriage brings people intimately into contact. Unless this relationship is harmonious, failure is likely to follow. Moreover, it will be a form of failure that is marked by misery and unhappiness, destroying all signs of AMBITION.

      16. OVER-CAUTION. The person who takes no chances, generally has to take whatever is left when others are through choosing. Over-caution is as bad as under-caution. Both are extremes to be guarded against. Life itself is filled with the element of chance.

      17. WRONG SELECTION OF ASSOCIATES IN BUSINESS. This is one of the most common causes of failure in business. In marketing personal services, one should use great care to select an employer who will be an inspiration, and who is, himself, intelligent and successful. We emulate those with whom we associate most closely. Pick an employer who is worth emulating.

      18. SUPERSTITION AND PREJUDICE. Superstition is a form of fear. It is also a sign of ignorance. Men who succeed keep open minds and are afraid of nothing.

      19. WRONG SELECTION OF A VOCATION. No man can succeed in a line of endeavor which he does not like. The most essential step in the marketing of personal services is that of selecting an occupation into which you can throw yourself wholeheartedly.

      20. LACK OF CONCENTRATION OF EFFORT. The "jack-of-all-trades" seldom is good at any. Concentrate all of your efforts on one DEFINITE CHIEF AIM.

      21. THE HABIT OF INDISCRIMINATE SPENDING. The spend-thrift cannot succeed, mainly because he stands eternally in FEAR OF POVERTY. Form the habit of systematic saving by putting aside a definite percentage of your income. Money in the bank gives one a very safe foundation of COURAGE when bar-gaining for the sale of personal services. Without money, one must take what one is offered, and be glad to get it.

      22. LACK OF ENTHUSIASM. Without enthusiasm one cannot be convincing. Moreover, enthusiasm is contagious, and the person who has it, under control, is generally welcome in any group of people.

      23. INTOLERANCE. The person with a "closed" mmd on any subject seldom gets ahead. Intolerance means that one has stopped acquiring knowledge. The most damaging forms of intolerance are those connected with religious, racial, and political differences of opinion.

      24. INTEMPERANCE. The most damaging forms of intemperance are connected with eating, strong drink, and sexual activities. Overindulgence in any of these is fatal to success.

      25. INABILITY TO COOPERATE WITH OTHERS. More people lose their positions and their big opportunities in life, because of this fault, than for all other reasons combined. It is a fault which no well-informed business man, or leader will tolerate.

      26. POSSESSION OF POWER THAT WAS NOT ACQUIRED THROUGH SELF       EFFORT. (Sons and daughters of wealthy men, and others who inherit money which they did not earn). Power in the hands of one who did not acquire it gradually, is often fatal to success. QUICK RICHES are more dangerous than poverty.

      27. INTENTIONAL DISHONESTY. There is no substitute for honesty. One may be temporarily dishonest by force of circumstances over which one has no control, without permanent damage. But, there is NO HOPE for the person who is dishonest by choice. Sooner or later, his deeds will catch up with him, and he will pay by loss of reputation, and perhaps even loss of liberty.

      28. EGOTISM AND VANITY. These qualities serve as red lights which warn others to keep away. THEY ARE FATAL TO SUCCESS.

      29. GUESSING INSTEAD OF THINKING. Most people are too indifferent or lazy to acquire FACTS with which to THINK ACCURATELY. They prefer to act on "opinions" created by guesswork or snap-judgments.

      30. LACK OF CAPITAL. This is a common cause of failure among those who start out in business for the first time, without sufficient reserve of capital to absorb the shock of their mistakes, and to carry them over until they have established a 131 132 REPUTATION.

      31. Under this, name any particular cause of failure from which you have suffered that has not been included in the foregoing list.

      In these thirty major causes of failure is found a description of the tragedy of life, which obtains for practically every person who tries and fails. It will be helpful if you can induce someone who knows you well to go over this list with you, and help to analyze you by the thirty causes of failure. It may be beneficial if you try this alone. Most people cannot see themselves as others see them. You may be one who cannot.

       The oldest of admonitions is "Man, know thyself!" If you market  merchandise successfully, you must know the merchandise. The same is true in marketing personal services. You should know all of your weaknesses in order that you may either bridge them or eliminate them entirely. You should know your strength in order that you may call attention to it when selling your services. You can know yourself only through accurate analysis.

      The folly of ignorance in connection with self was displayed by a young man who applied to the manager of a well known business for a position. He made a very good impression until the manager asked him what salary he expected. He replied that he had no fixed sum in mind (lack of a definite aim). The manager then said, "We will pay you all you are worth, alter we try you out for a week."

      "I will not accept it," the applicant replied, "because I AM GETTING MORE THAN THAT WHERE I AM NOW EMPLOYED."

      Before you even start to negotiate for a readjustment of your salary in your present position, or to seek employment elsewhere, BE SURE THAT YOU ARE WORTH MORE THAN YOU NOW RECEIVE.

      It is one thing to WANT money- everyone wants more-but it is something entirely different to be WORTH MORE! Many people mistake their WANTS for their JUST DUES. Your financial requirements or wants have nothing whatever to do with your WORTH. Your value is established entirely by your ability to render useful service or your capacity to induce others to render such service.

Home Business Tip of the Day: ?Getting Clarity On The Things You Do

Hey Fellow Entrepreneur, 

So we’re on the subject of getting clarity this week.

Clarity is all about asking the right questions. Figuring out the important things you need to know before going in to anything.

In your last issue, I told to you about the questions I ask the viewers of my new training webinar before we even get started. I have them answer these questions so they can get clear in terms of what they want to get out of the webinar.

That makes the webinar infinitely more valuable to them. They get much more value out of it.

That’s a truth no matter what you’re doing.


Whether you’re on a webinar, or reading a book, writing a blog, whatever…

So today I want to talk a bit about getting clarity in another area. It’s just as important as anything else, but like those other questions, rarely asked by entrepreneurs.

And then I want to share an idea about why it’s so important for you to be able to ask and answer your own questions.

This is going to be a challenging issue for you. But read and digest it and I think you’ll be richer for it.

 Getting Clarity On The Things You Do

Today we’re going to talk about getting clarity in your projects

And really, it doesn’t even have to be a major project. I can be a minor project – anything you’re doing that requires several you should be looking to get clarity on.

I believe there are two questions for getting clarity on a project that we can ask. The first is, “What does done look like?” That’s the big overarching question. The second one is, “What does doing look like?”

In other words, when it’s complete, what will it look like? And, what are all the steps involved in getting it done?

Let’s look at these questions separately.

Are You Done Yet?


So how do you determine what “done” looks like?

The way you surface the answers to that is by asking a series of questions like, “if this project was incredibly successful, how would it turn out?” “If it was everything I wanted it to be, how would I know?” “If this was a smashing success, how would it end up?”

So those are the types of questions that you ask to get extensive clarity about what does done look like. Obviously if it’s anything that is more than just a few steps, it requires that you actually spend a few minutes at the very least writing out your answer to that question so that you can have greater clarity.

Now once you understand that, the next step is to figure out what “doing” looks like. To do this you need to really start listing all the steps that will get you to “done.”

I think I’ve probably shared this before, but what I like to do to determine what “doing” looks like is to brainstorm all the steps.

I don’t try and make it linear – first step, second step, etc. – because if I do that, I box myself in too quickly. So what I try to do is just brainstorm all the steps first.

Then as I’ve kind of exhausted all the steps, then I put them in order. As I put them in order, I realize I might have forgotten certain things.

Once I get all that down, I’m able to put it into a step-by-step plan that will lead me to this outcome that I’ve already defined by determining what would this look like if it was an amazing success.

A Harder Question: How do you know the questions to ask?


That brings up a more difficult question of how do you know what you need to know, to get clarity on anything?

To answer that, I’m going to go a little bit more global here for a second; a little bit more meta-level.

The answer is really pretty simple, but it’s not that easy to do. I’m talking about the ability for you, as an entrepreneur, to trust your instincts.

Why is it so hard to do?

Well you see, you’ve been trained ever since you were a child not to trust your instincts; that somehow your instincts were bad or wrong.

When you were a baby you wanted all your toys and your parents made you share them. When you went to school, you might have wanted to stand up and walk around; but you were forced to sit in class and pay attention. If you decided that something was interesting to you if it wasn’t necessarily interesting to your parents or your teachers you might not have been able to study it or get access to it.

You’ve been taught over time to trust outside experts to give you certain answers that ultimately you should be developing yourself.

The bottom line is, and this is just my perspective, because people don’t trust their instincts, they don’t know what it is they want or need.

They end up looking for answers without knowing what it is they need to know.

The problem with getting answers to questions you don’t know


So they end up joining a program, they buy some books, they listen to an audio but they’re not really clear what it is they’re hoping to get out of it. So they go to wherever it is they’re going; the program, the audio, the course, the book, etc. hoping to find out what’s there and what potentially they need as opposed to walking in knowing exactly what they need and what they’re there for.

When you don’t trust your instincts you end up deferring to others to tell you more and more of what you need for the clarity. Ultimately you’re not getting your own clarity. You’re getting other people’s clarity.

Most of things that you want right now, whether you really want them or not, have been ingrained in you. Someone else has told you that you need to have it. It’s obvious what those things are. You want more money. You want a good relationship with someone who loves you. You want a good business that makes you feel like you’re making a contribution and getting the security and freedom that you desire.

So here’s another big question. Do you think you need something that you currently don’t have in order to get something you want? Do you think you need something that you don’t have right now in order to get more money; in order to have a good relationship with someone who loves you; in order to have a good business where you feel like you’re making a contribution?

And if you do feel you need something, what is it exactly? If you don’t know what it is you need to have in order to get that, how will you ever find it?

Unless you’re hoping that someone else takes responsibility for knowing what it is you need and therefore giving it to you. That is a very dangerous position to put yourself in.
