Two More Strategies To Explode Your Performance

OK, So far we’ve talked about different motivation strategies. You’ve evaluated yourself and determined whether you primarily use moving “toward” or “away” as a motivating factor. We also examined whether you use internal or external cues for motivation. You’ve stopped to consider whether you’re driven out of “necessity” or “what’s possible.” And you’ve also had some time to sit and think about “what turns you on.”

So right now, you’ve got some pretty important insight into yourself that you can use when making any plans. Understandings that will help you get what you want faster and more easily than you may have been able to in the past.

But let’s not stop there, because there are other strategic things you should know to help you achieve your goals more efficiently.

Learning at the Speed of Light

What about your learning strategy? First off, are you a reader or listener? Which do you tend to do more as far as when you’re learning something new? Do you tend to read a lot or do you tend to listen a lot or watch a lot?

Here’s an important point. When I ask people individually how do you learn best; most people have an easy answer for me. However, when I ask them if they act on that information, do they actually consider that and leverage it when they go about learning something – very few people actually answered yes.

And yet acting on your knowledge of how you best learn is the key to growing your performance, to getting better and learning faster. Not acting on this knowledge condemns to inefficient learning and therefore, condemns you to suboptimal performance or non-performance.

So what is the best way that you learn and are you leveraging that way? It could be by reading. It could be by thinking about and writing about what you’ve just discovered. It could be about watching videos. It could be about talking about what you’ve learned with friends. It could be a lot of things, but the point is that you need to know how you best learn.

If you know how you get motivated and you start actually using that to increase your motivation. And you know how you learn and you start leveraging that so you can learn faster, I think you can kind of see where this is going. Ultimately your performance will be so much better than it is right now because you’ve brought some consciousness to who you are; how you do the things you do; and how you could perform at your best.

Work Preferences

Another area is your work preferences. There are too many topics to discuss here, so I won’t go too in depth. But, let’s take one easy example.

Do you work best alone or with others? If you do work better with others, what kind of relationship does it usually take? Is it with friends? Is it with people who are subordinates? Is it with a boss telling you what to do? (I hope not if you’re going to be a successful entrepreneur.)

How do you work best? Do you work best in the morning or the evening? Do you work best working on one project for the entire day or working on several different projects at the same time or throughout the day? Do you work best at your desk or in different environments? Do you perform better under stress? Or, do you do better with a highly structured, predictable environment?

Personally, I tend to work best in different environments so I’m always moving around. A while back, someone was asking me how I dealt with ADD as far as multitasking. I told them when I start feeling bored and get the need to start working on something else; rather than dropping what I’m working on and starting something else, I take what I was working on and I go to a different environment. So if I’m working on something and I’m at the beach and I’m starting to get antsy, then I’ll go to the cigar bar or I’ll go to my office. Once I get antsy there, I’ll go to Starbucks. I’ll just move around.

But it’s not important what I do. It’s important what you do that works best. Maybe you’ve never thought about these things. So you don’t know the answers to these questions right now. That’s completely okay. But now that you’re aware these are things you should know, you can start actually thinking through your motivation strategy; your learning strategy; how you do work strategy.

Do you see how knowing these things can make such a huge difference in your level of performance? When you do, you can adjust your work in a way that really leverages the best out of you!

The Way I Stay on Top of These Kinds of Things

That’s one of the reasons I love writing in my journal. Because a lot of questions like these get answered. Not always in a premeditated way, but just by sharing experiences in my journal. I see the patterns over time like “oh, the last six times I really learned something quicker than I thought. It was because I did X, Y and Z in all of those cases.” Obviously X, Y and Z would be something very useful for me to consistently do whenever I’m learning something new.

So, that’ll wrap up this brief topic. I’ll leave you with this…

How well do you know yourself? And based on that, are you leveraging who you are to get all that you want? If not, are you willing to be introspective to reflect, to think through, and ultimately bring more consciousness to who you are, how you best work and what gets you going and how you learn best?

I believe that the rewards for knowing this far, far outweigh the time it takes or the energy that you expand to learn these things about yourself.

If you really want to perform at a high level, then it’s not a “nice” thing to do; it’s an absolutely essential thing to do.

Home Business Tips: The Advertising 5 Must Do’s

When you advertise you MUST:

  1. Decide whether you have a 1-step or multi-step sale to make
  2. If multi-step, recognize you are advertising to generate leads (and do nothing else
    that takes away space, time, attention, etc. from that task)
  3. Feature your free offer up top and early – don’t hide it (Example Of Headline:
  4. Make the free offer as exciting and valuable as possible. (If only slightly re-working
    this ad, I’d make a point that the photos are from the online course. I’d make sure to show one photo of
    the course, material sample, DVD, etc.)
  5. Give multiple ways to respond, emphasizing the one that’s best for you. (Website,
    phone, maybe mail-in coupon). Whether or not to try pushing most to the web site
    is still open to debate: good news: gets you 100% e-mail capture for lots of zero
    cost follow-up. Bad news: you need a separate, different web site just for this
    purpose, and you delay response – vs. the phone, always handy.

Labor Dept. Reports Biggest Decline Since 1949

Construction of new homes and apartments jumped 17.2% in May to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 532,000 units. The increase was led by a 62% rise in the construction of multifamily units. Construction of single-family homes rose 7.5% to an annual rate of 401,000, and building permits, seen as a good indicator of future activity, were up 4% to an annual rate of 518,000 in May.

The National Association of Home Builders/Wells Fargo housing market index fell one point in June to 15. An index reading below 50 indicates negative sentiment about the housing market.

The Labor Department reported the producer price index, which tracks wholesale prices, rose 0.2% in May, following a 0.3% increase in April. For the year, wholesale prices have dropped 5%, the biggest 12-month decline since 1949.

The Federal Reserve reported that industrial production at the nation’s factories, mines and utilities fell 1.1% in May, following a revised 0.7% decrease in April. Economists had expected a decline of 0.9% in May.

The Labor Department reported that consumer inflation rose a seasonally adjusted 0.1% in May. For the year, the consumer price index is down 1.3%, the biggest decline since 1950.

The Conference Board reported that its index of leading economic indicators rose 1.2% in May, following a revised 1.1% gain in April. It was the best back-to-back performance since November-December 2001. The index is designed to forecast economic activity in the next three to six months.

Initial claims for unemployment benefits rose by 3,000 to 608,000 in the week ending June 13 from a revised figure of 605,000 in the previous week. The number of people continuing to claim jobless benefits in the week ending May 30 fell 148,000 to 6.69 million. It was the largest drop since November 2001.

Upcoming on the economic calendar are reports on existing home sales on June 23, durable goods orders and new home sales on June 24, and consumer spending on June 26.

Networking… The Four Critical Questions

Our Family Home Business Training.Businesses will often use these exacting words to hype up a product and distract the prospect from the boring (albeit important) home business details.  You get caught up in the excitement of a seemingly easy renegade way to make cash, and focus less on the important aspects, like: How is the money actually made?  How much do you actually make a month?  How reliable is the product or what is the true quality?  What do I have to do and or pay to become involved?

These are the Four Critical Questions that must be asked when becoming involved with any network marketing or home business company.

This is Wes Waddell from Colorado Springs, CO, and I know just how important it is to understand the answers to those questions.  Having been in this industry for 3 years now, I understand that there is a lot of hype out there, with not enough meat and substance.

The Four Critical Questions of Multi-Level Marketing (MLM) or any Small Home Business, for that matter, need real answers up front.  These are the real questions that need to be answered before any involvement with any company or business partner.  As exciting as the easy Home MLM Business Guerrilla Virus is, unless you can see through the fancy action words and get the real answers, you are no closer to putting food on your table.

That is why it is so important to find a system out there (complete with real training) that will give it to you straight.  A home business opportunity that will level with you and give you honest and complete answers to the Four Critical Questions of Home Businesses or Network MLM.

A close look at the following questions will help you know if a business opportunity system is good for you.

  1. How is the money made?  Before you even learn how much you can make, it is important to know where the money actually comes from.  Is it Product sales?  Recruiting bonuses?  Commissions?  A few large payouts?  or… Many smaller deposits?  This is the most important thing you need to find out.
  2. How much can be made?  Like Question #1, this is extremely important to your future, and it can sometimes be difficult to determine.  Sales pitches will always give you the most optimistic results imaginable, so its up to you to sift through the sales mumble jumble and consider what is being promised and just exactly how they are promising it.  Hopefully then you’ll have a better idea what you can realisticly make.
  3. How reliable is it?  Anyone can promise you a million dollars overnight.  It may even be technically possible, if all the universe aligns at the exact moment you click to sign up… but its not very likely.  That’s why you must ask just how reliable is it really.  This can be a little easier to answer, if you pay attention to your sponsors results.  Just listen and ask yourself if its realistic to your abilities.  But remember that no matter what, they will always tell you that it is possible.
  4. What do “YOU” have to do to become involved?  This can sometimes be a tricky one as well.  Expect to be strung along some, clicking here and there to access this piece and that, without much of a solid answer.  Getting you to read the information is one thing… more of this trickery is a bad thing.  The sooner you can find out the whole truth, the more sure you can be that they aren’t asking for a firstborn child as part of the deal.

As soon as you know the answers to these four questions, you will be able to give it some thought and come up with the answer you need to the most important question of them all.
